We’ve covered a lot of information relating to your Hajj in the last few months, but there are still a number of important facets of this journey that we’ve yet to offer much advice on. Having spoken a fair bit about clothing in one form or another, it’s now time to discuss your gear in a more general sense, as this can make a big difference to your overall experience. These are the best Tips For a Successful Hajj.

Purchase a Digital Luggage Scale

When you are on Hajj, you are going to be moving a lot of luggage through customs and the like, and few things are more detrimental to your state of mind than suddenly discovering that you may have too many belongings. Over-weight luggage is a legitimate concern, and if you buy extra belongings on Hajj then you can find yourself worrying that your luggage weight will be unsuitable. With a digital luggage scale, you can monitor your luggage’s weight, and therefore keep your peace of mind.

Bring an Unlocked GSM Phone

We recommended previously that you separated yourself from phones that weren’t emergency items on Hajj, and that’s true, but purchasing a phone line will let your family contact you in cases of said emergency. Incoming calls are usually free too, so calls from your family won’t cost anything.

Always Keep Your I.D with You

Ordinarily, your group guide will retain your passport, but in unforeseen situations you may need your own I.D. For example, if you suddenly fall ill or become lost in the crowds and can’t locate your hotel, you’ll need your I.D to easily rectify the situation. Keep a ready-made I.D with you at all times. You can’t always depend on the presence of your passport, so have a backup in place.

Packing Miscellaneous Items

There are many miscellaneous items of gear that can be useful on Hajj. Here are a few suggestions…

  • A lightweight umbrella is extremely useful on Hajj, not for keeping the rain off, but instead for serving as a sun shelter. You’ll probably be glad of it at some point.
  • If you do make use of a phone, it may be worth procuring an extra battery. You can’t count on being able to charge it, so you may need extra or extended battery life.
